A new project species, Yorkshire Post feature, sleeping roe deer and...
Wait, whats that?!

Welcome to the May project newsletter!
This time, the camera traps were in 'Kennedy Wild Bird Food Forest' - and we were amazed at the amount of captures and species we found.
Every camera was chock-full of footage, much more than usual. We also found a new project species... fallow deer; including some glorious stags.
You may have caught the project in the Yorkshire Post Saturday magazine too; if not, read the full feature here.
And we've been- hang on... what's that?!!?
We had a very, very close look at this video, and asked Vincent Wildlife Trust too; but think (unfortunately) it's likely to be a fox cub.
We can't be 100% sure though, so we've got the cameras back out in the same spot, just in case!

Directed by badgers... Camera trap B8
One camera trap at Kennedy Wild Bird Food Forest was commandeered by badgers. They were never quite happy with the camera angle, and ended up moving it several times...
The camera also captured a rather aggressive roe deer and a brown hair kicking out.

Another first for the project... in front of camera B11, a roe buck dug out a scrape, before bedding down for some kip.
A stroke of fortune that he chose a spot just in front of the camera, and a delightful insight into this roe deer's life.

Mammal Society Courses and Camera Trapping in Colorado...
We've got some day-long camera trap courses coming up with The Mammal Society over summer (21st June & 4th October) which you can book online...
And Sue Dickerson shows us some of the stunning images her camera traps get, all the way from Colorado...

A promising sighting...
Vincent Wildlife Trust kindly told us of a very promising recent sighting of a pine marten on the North York Moors.
We're hoping to get camera traps close by soon...
