Dear Friend,
Hey there! Are you enjoying the sudden transition straight from winter to summer? So are we!
Take advantage of the warmer weather by signing up for the annual MassCommute Bicycle Challenge! Tufts is participating again this year, but overall our team is barely holding on to a top ten standing. Can we do better than our 3rd Place finish in our category last year? It's up to you! Make sure you register and participate while there is still time! Don't forget to check out nearby Bay State Bike Week events that you can join to earn your mileage. The Office is offering a limited quantity of freebies for signing up and there are daily raffle prizes from the organizers too!
The President's Picnic, an annual end-of-year staff appreciation event, will be a zero waste event once again. We encourage everyone to BYOP - Bring Your Own Placesetting - to reduce waste while enjoying the food and socializing. Departments with 5 or more members who BYOP will be entitled to a prize (like last year’s water dispenser from the Office of Sustainability. New to the picnic this year is a mini-fair featuring the lesser-known perks of working at Tufts.
Finally, World PEAS CSA is signing up members for their 2014 Summer-Fall farm shares. Students, ask about paying for your share using Jumbo Cash! Check out the options for their new Egg Shares and Direct Trade Coffee too.
In the meantime, go out and enjoy yourself in this beautiful weather! As always, feel free to stop by and visit us in Miller Hall.
Stay green and have fun this summer,
Timothy Grant

We are now halfway through the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge, and so far more than 70,000k miles have been biked by competing cyclists!!! There is still time to join the event and partake in the free raffles, individual and team prizes, and the huge after party happening on the 28th of May.

BYOP (Bring Your Own Placesetting) and win prizes for your office!
The President's Picnic is again upon us, and, as in the past, this year's gathering will be a Zero Waste Event, meaning that everything used will either be recycled or composted. To minimize waste even further, we are encouraging all attendees to BYOP - Bring Your Own (reusable) Placesetting (plate, fork, cup/water bottle).
Spread the word to your colleagues! Offices/departments with 5+ people to BYOP will be eligible to win a prize (like last year’s water dispenser)... available while supplies last on a first-come, first-serve basis, so come by the Office of Sustainability's table early!

World PEAS CSA (a program of the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, sponsored by Tufts University 's Freidman School and Community Teamwork Inc.) is once again offering farms shares for its 2014 season, which runs from June 10th through October 23rd.
WorldPEAS delivers to both the Medford and Boston campuses and offer the following options:
Sign up for your small, large, or academic share today! (Students, ask about how you can pay for your share using Jumbo Cash.)
World PEAS aggregates the bounty of the season, supplying food grown by over 25 immigrant, refugee, and beginning farmers in eastern MA, to provide families with a weekly box of seasonally available fruit, salad and cooking greens, tomatoes, eggplant, carrots, potatoes and other healthy foods. The World PEAS CSA is a unique, multi-producer model that makes it possible for beginning or small-scale farmers who cannot manage a CSA on their own to participate by growing a select number of crops for the CSA, while providing greater crop diversity and reducing production risk for CSA shareholders.

Comedian John Oliver absolutely skewers the current Climate Change rhetoric in America, criticizing the portrayal of the crisis in our media. With a few quips and a "Statistically Accurate" portrayal of the climate change debate, Oliver puts the record straight in less than 5 minutes. (Warning: Strong Language)
