A River Runs Through It. During the summer of 1973, our family made a pivotal pilgrimage from northwest Iowa to south central Kansas in response to a call my dad had received to serve as academic dean at Friends University. As we drove across the Flint Hills on our way to Wichita, I can still remember the unexpected sensation that swept over me. "This feels like home," I thought to myself...

Remembering and Reflecting. It is right around the corner, folks. And it is scary and exciting at the same time, much like the top of the roller coaster hill on the verge of plunging headfirst down the mile-high drop (I hate roller coasters). Just for fun, I did a Google search on the word “retirement” and got 64,000,000 hits. No, I didn’t read them all, but just in the first two pages...

Young Adults age 16-25.  We often speak of the importance of developing emerging leaders. Sometimes, we call it passing the baton. And while most leaders would eagerly agree that preparing, empowering and releasing young leaders into the work of ministry is a primary value, putting muscle on that intention is harder than we think...

EFM Luke 10 Movement. The harvest is great There are 7,254 people groups unreached today. That’s 43% of all people groups. That’s 2.9 billion people. But the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest. We are exploring new mission field options. Ever since the first Luke 10 Think Tank met before EFM Board meetings in May of 2013, we have been focusing on potential locations that match and follow the lead of Friends Churches in the Global South! Several Luke 10 ‘discernment team’ trips are being scheduled in 2014 as follows...
