Marty's Message

One of my favorite moments of graduation is a somewhat private moment shared only between faculty members and graduating students. It happens during the time just before graduation officially begins, when our faculty line each side of the walkway creating a “tunnel” that graduates walk through on their way from the staging area to the Multi-Activity Center. We all clap wildly as our students march by us and we give hugs and high fives in an intimate moment of congratulations and final farewell.

This type of moment is not out of the ordinary at UWSP. It shows the strong relationships that are built and the overwhelming mutual respect between students and faculty. This kind of bond with our students doesn’t happen everywhere, but it happens at UW-Stevens Point.

Marty Loy,
CPS Dean
