Hi <<First Name>>

Another fun and fabulous makeover - go team Gorgeous Me.

"I'm feeling like a million dollars"

Kelly, mother of four children aged 5 and younger, recently won the Gorgeous Me & Essential Mums Makeover Competition. See her stunning makeover here.

It never ceases to amaze me what a huge transformation these women go through. They haven't just changed their hair style and are wearing new clothes - for most, something unlocks or is released from within, something that may have been trapped for years.

Often the transformation doesn't take its full form straight away - having a makeover is a HUGE change in a couple of days. Individuals need to find a way to incorporate what they have learned into their everyday life, to break habits of old (some life long). My advice is to initiate small change day-by-day and eventually you'll start to become more confident with the choices you make and the things that you do.

I feel very privileged to be part of a team that makes a difference in so many women's lives.

Why do we profile a lot of gorgeous, young women?

I received a query during the week, resulting from our Winter Hats blog. It was from a woman in her late 50's with short, grey hair - she loves hats but from our article we only profiled attractive, young women with gorgeous long hair. We do apologise for this, and we know we do it a lot. There's a simple reason - we're VERY limited with the images we can access - from fashion brands, photographers, photo image sites, etc - and they tend not to photograph everyday women in fashion. Some do, but they're few and far between. That's why we do our makeovers, to show everyday women that they are gorgeous. So please bear with us... it's something we are very mindful of.

And to answer our member's question, yes, women in their late 50's with short, grey hair can looking stunning in hats. We recommend that you show a bit of hair if you can, it helps to soften the look, and make sure you get a hat that, size-wise, looks in proportion with your body size.

Q. My husband left me two years ago for a younger woman! I’m 47 and feel old and frumpy. I’m now ready to pick myself up, change my old frumpy ways. What advice can you offer?

That’s great that you’re ready to get going again, well done, it’s certainly not easy. (more)

Keep or discard?

Clothing labels can be a darn nuisance - they can scratch and irritate you, flick up when you're wearing them, or sometimes they show through a garment. If they annoy me I remove them but keep to sew back on when I go to sell or hand on my clothes. Why? Because despite us saying "it's not all about the brand, it's about the style", when it comes to getting a premium for your clothes in the secondhand market, it's definitely all about the brand. People will pay more for a 'brand'.

Definitely keep.
