Learning from WNY exits

Hot on the heels of its sold out Student e-ship program in Ithaca, UVANY hosted a panel of exited entrepreneurs at Z80 Labs in Buffalo.  A packed crowd at the Saturn Club heard first hand stories and lessons learned from the founders of Synacor, Campus Labs, and Liazon.

Next stop is Albany on June 3, where the focus will be on NYSERDA success stories (Ecovative Design, XOS, SOMS Technologies and Paper Battery Company) and the view from early stage investors. Don't forget to Register today!

Centscere, Ovitz win awards

At the other end of the spectrum, two startups were recognized by the Syracuse and Rochester communities for their potential to become big businesses with high impact on our world.  Centscere started as an idea for non-profits to engage with millenial donors.  The team pitched at Syracuse Startup Weekend two years ago and won.  This year, they were accepted to the Startup Labs Syracuse and walked away with the $150,000 first prize.

Ovitz Corp., founded by a team of University of Rochester students, has developed a portable vision evaluator that has the potential to bring clearer vision to billions around the globe. They were the winners of the Rochester Business Plan Competition hosted by High Tech Rochester, netting more than $25,000 in cash and services.
