The Motivator! 3rd June

Christchurch Airport Marathon events

View the latest release from the CP media team! The best 4mins of TV you'll ever watch!

Congratulations to everyone that completed the 10km, 1/2 or full marathon on Sunday.  It was fantastic to be able to be out there to support and cheer you all on and see the awesome performances that were being put in.  Also a big thanks to our Complete Performance/Spectrum Print pace team and the lead riders I have heard nothing but positive things about the great work that you did to help people achieve their goals. (Richard)

From Marina: "Awesome at its most awesome for me. Leading Mike in the wheelchair. He is a fantastic athlete and so determined. As we approached the airport on the way back he just got faster and faster, and the cheers for him louder and more plentiful. It was an amazing experience and when he crossed the finish there was his wife and son who were so proud to see him finish in 1 hr 31mins.

Photo: And here is Emily Kelly at the summit of Mt Fyffe, 1 June, 1600 m above sea level - given that the track starts at just 200 m elevation, that's one heck of a hard earned trig!! Nice job Emily

Photo: TRIG BAGGING SEASON IS OPEN!! First points on the board to Matt Sherwood, an early morning visit to the trig on top of Sugarloaf. And when I say early, I mean early. 12.15am this morning early!! That's commitment, prize-worthy in itself. Well done Matt for taking an early lead... who is going to challenge him???

Trig-Bagging

What a start to the trig bagging competition! Bonus points to Matt Sherwood for being the first to put points on the board, hitting the trig on top of Sugarloaf at 12.15am on 1 June, opening day of the CP trig bagging season.

Remember, you have till 31 July to bag as many trigs as you can. It's a great reason to get yourself off the beaten track, and perhaps visit some spots you have never been too. If you need to know more about these elusive trig things, and where to find them, have a look here:

There will be prizes/very exclusive bragging rights for the most trigs, most adventurous trig, and I suspect a few more categories may find their way in. (most trigs on a single outing is one that springs to mind!)

Send your trig bagging photos and any other evidence to fleur@completeperformance.co.nz, or load them onto our Facebook page.

Training Tip:

Exercising in the cold.

The conditions at Sunday’s marathon were freezing! I was surprised to read comments from the winners of the marathon and half marathon saying they were ‘tempted to wear tights’ and almost ditched their racing singlet for a long sleeve top. I couldn’t imagine running in a singlet and short shorts in temps below zero degrees!  Why were they wearing shorts? Find out here.
