We need YOU at GA!
The UUA General Assembly is approaching fast! The HUUmanists have an exciting booth, program and celebration planned, but this year's Annual Meeting is particularly important to our future. Besides voting on the budget and new board members, we are asking members to approve revised bylaws. Some of the important changes proposed in the bylaws are:
- Changing the name of the Association to the Unitarian Universalist Humanist Association (from HUUmanists).
- Updating our voting procedures to allow for electronic and proxy voting.
- Defining the roles of the officers, board and the new Director position.
We need you there so that we have the quorum required by our current bylaws to make these changes. Please join us if you can. You can find the draft versions of these documents on our website:
We will keep the annual meeting as brief as possible and it will be followed immediately by the "Schempp Schindigg" where we will celebrate the lifetime achievements of separation of church & state activist Ellery Schempp, recipient our 2014 Religious Humanist of the Year award. This event is open to the public and invitations are being sent to all area Humanist and secular groups. We will hear from Ellery and representatives from the American Humanist Association and Americans United for Separation of Church and State. There will be refreshments and a cash bar.
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Providence,
John Hooper
President, HUUmanists Association
P.S. While you are there, be sure to stop by the booth, say hello, and pick up your UU Humanist namebadge ribbon.

ABOUT THE UU HUMANISTS
We are Unitarian Universalists who are also Humanists. We are the principal organization representing Humanists in the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations.
Our mission is to celebrate and encourage Humanism within Unitarian Universalism and to invite Humanists everywhere to find welcoming and supportive community.
As Humanists, we rely on reason and compassion, rather than supernatural revelation, to guide us in our quest to become more fully human as individuals and to cooperatively improve society and sustain the planet. |
