THE COMEBACK

Just six days before the 1960 U.S. swimming Olympic trials, one of the favorites to win gold in Rome underwent an emergency appendectomy. Doctors said his Olympic dreams were over. There was no way he could swim in the trials. They didn't know Jeff Farrell. Click here to learn about his incredible comeback and see why 50 years later, swimming is still his therapy of choice.

REMEMBERING TWO INCREDIBLE WOMEN

This week, we lost two incredible women. Dr. Maya Angelou, the author, poet, activist (and so much more) died on Wednesday at the age of 86. In a statement, her family said: "Her family is extremely grateful that her ascension was not belabored by a loss of acuity or comprehension. She lived a life as a teacher, activist, artist and human being. She was a warrior for equality, tolerance and peace." Just days before her death, she was still teaching us all. In 140 characters, she used Twitter to share a sentiment  that many would struggle to articulate through thousands of words.

Earlier in the week, we lost a friend to Growing Bolder -- and someone who lived life loudly. In recent years, British grandmother Ruth Flowers found a second life as an electronic DJ called Mamy Rock. She inspired thousands of fans of all ages around the world to get up and dance. She passed away at the age of 80. Click here to watch our feature story on this incredible woman.

May both of these women inspire you to keep living a life of passion, purpose and boldness until the very end.
