June, 2014
6/07 @ Blind Pig Speakeasy w/Sasha Kern (Secret Location!)
6/21 Solo Set Matinée house show (Allston, MA)
6/21 @ House show with Ardigan (Jamaica Plain, MA)
6/22 @ Celebrate Milton Fest w/Cat And The Moon (Milton, MA)
6/23—6/27 @ Mark O'Connor/Berklee String Camp (Boston, MA)
June marks the end of the school year and the start of summer fun. First up, I'm playing duo TOMORROW NIGHT with the inimitable Sasha Kern (check out a clip of us playing duo on my website) at an underground popup speakeasy called Blind Pig. I don't even know the location yet! If you're interested in attending, message me for details (FYI, the password to view the event is "bacon", and you can get 25% off with the code "swordfish" just from being on my email list).
Then after a jaunt home to Chicago mid-June (possible show(s) happening then! Stay tuned!), I hit it hard the weekend of 6/21-6/22. On the 21st I'll be playing a solo show of violin and voice at "Brainerd Manor", a lovely house concert venue in Allston (26 Brainerd Road, 02134), as part of the Solstice Celebration happening all over Boston. Then later that night Ardigan will play a set at a different house concert in Jamaica Plain (message me for details).
The next day I'll be playing a set as a special guest with the phenomenal Celtic/bluegrass fusion band, Cat And The Moon. Such a pleasure! We'll be at the Celebrate Milton Irish Festival for a (hopefully sunny) afternoon of music, food, and fun.
Rounding out the end of June, I'm honored to be back on the faculty at the Mark O'Connor/Berklee Summer String Camp! There will be a show every night of the week featuring some of the best violinists in the world at many different styles. There's also a big finale concert Thursday night, which I may or may not be in but will certainly be worth attending. If you'd like to study at the camp, it's not too late to register!

Summer Camps/Festivals
As mentioned above, I'm teaching at the Mark O'Connor/Berklee Summer Strings Program, but I'll also be in New Orleans at Hope Stone Kids NOLA the following two weeks, and at the Bates Dance Festival the three weeks after that. I'll put more info about the latter two in my July newsletter.
Social Seam and Half-Price Lessons
One of my best friends in Boston has created a remarkable new website, www.socialseam.org, that enables businesses to incentivize donors to support local non-profits. To help him get off the ground, I'm offering private lessons for half my usual rate if you donate $1 or more to any of the charitable causes I support using the Social Seam platform. Even if you don't end up taking lessons from me, you might just get discounts on groceries, clothing, and more!
