Order of Malta Chapter General
The Chapter General of the Sovereign Order of Malta is held in Rome
The Chapter General has elected government members for the next five-year term

The Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing expressed his satisfaction at the conclusion: “I am confident that the expertise of the senior members elected to these important strategic posts in the government of the Order of Malta will contribute great value as we move forward in this century of significant challenges  – social, humanitarian and spiritual - in the 120 countries where we work. I send my best wishes to the newly elected members for their important tasks”.

President Giorgio Napolitano made a private visit to the Magistral Villa, the Sovereign Order of Malta's institutional headquarters. The Italian President was received by Grand Master Fra' Matthew Festing. More

The Grand Master expressed his sincere condolences in a note to the presidents of both countries. The Order of Malta is coordinating aid in response to the disaster and has initiated a fund-raising campaign. More

The Order of Malta has recently inaugurated an orphanage for 26 children aged from 6 to 18. In addition, a new health centre will be created in one the most disadvantaged areas of the capital Dili. More

The Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie, Abdou Diouf, and the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Jean-Pierre Mazery, signed a cooperation agreement for establishing a link between the two institutions. More

The President of John Cabot University conferred the honorary degree upon Fra’ Matthew Festing “for providing an outstanding example of dedication to human progress and peace in his leadership of the Sovereign Order of Malta”.  More
Lourdes pilgrimage
Lourdes: the Order of Malta's 56th International Pilgrimage

Led by Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing, some 1300 malades as well as over 6500 members and volunteers participated in the Order of Malta’s 56th International Pilgrimage to Lourdes. More
