Tuesday June 24 to Saturday June 28 will see the Brewhouse stage converted to the home of a wealthy senator in ancient Rome as Up Pompeii takes to the stage.
Our June production is based on the original characters from the BBC hit comedy that starred Frankie Howerd, in a feature-length story specially-written for the stage by Miles Tredinnick.
Whether you remember the show or not, and whether you were a fan of Frankie Howerd or not, we're sure you'll laugh out loud at this comedy of mistaken identities and misunderstandings. As Lurcio the slave attempts to deliver his prologue and begin proceedings, he is quickly caught up in the myriad of sexual liaisons in all quarters of his master’s house.
Why does Ludicrus Sextus not leave for the Senate meeting in Rome? Why does his wife, Ammonia, and their daughter Erotica return so quickly from the country? Who will take care of the escaped slave girl, Voluptua, and will Nausius’s love poetry improve? Whilst growing chaos ensues, an increasing rumbling is heard in the distance – what could that possibly be?

We are thrilled and delighted to announce that LTC Youth was presented with the first-ever Pride of Burton Team of the Year Award at a glittering awards ceremony at Branston Golf Club on Friday June 6.
Commercial radio station TouchFM put out a call for nominations in 12 categories to recognise and celebrate achievements in our town by groups, businesses and individuals. Judges chose 36 finalists who attended the awards ceremony along with leading figures from public life in the town.
Youth member Katie Ireland and Youth Officer Tom Pritchard represented us and collected our award on stage.They were interviewed by DJ James Watts of TouchFM (pictured below) and by news staff from the station. Highlights from the evening will be broadcast in a special Pride of Burton show on Touch FM from 6pm on Friday June 13.
The judges praised the hard work and talent of the teams performing on stage, saying it was matched by the efforts of many volunteers behind the scenes. They highlighted the entertainment we bring to the Burton area, the opportunities we provide for talented youngsters to perform and noted that several former members have gone on to train and work professionally: "Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, the Little Theatre Company (LTC) youth section is driven by passion and dedication".
Freelance writer and LTC committee member Elaine Pritchard was a finalist for Business Person of the Year - and although she didn't win she was delighted that nominations she wrote resulted in three awards for others.

Congratulations to LTC Youth members Tom Pritchard, Ewan Bourne, Shannon Lenton, Katie Ireland and Wil Pearson who all successfully auditioned to receive bursaries from Burton And District Arts Council to help further their studies related to performing arts. Tom's bursary will be helping to fund a trip he's making next month to the World Drama Festival in Lingen, Germany. He's playing Edmund in an Anne Lee School of Speech and Drama production of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.

Berta's Big Quiz Night
In 2014 we are holding our major bi-annual fundraiser - which this year takes the form of Berta's Big Quiz night on Saturday September 6 at The Brewhouse.
Elaine Pritchard (who plays the Little Theatre daily fun trivia quiz as Berta2 - long story, don't ask) has set the quiz and the cost of taking part will be £30 for a team of four (i.e. £7.50 each) which will include chip butties at the interval. The bar will be open to buy drinks throughout the evening and it is guaranteed to be a fun night with prizes for the winners and the team in last place.
We will welcome teams of four made up of members, patrons, family, friends, audience members and local people - and it will be FIRST COME FIRST SERVED to book your place. Because this is a fundraiser, and a lot of work is going into it, we MUST ask for payment upfront to secure your team's place. Booking is NOW OPEN.  Liam Atton (pictured above left) is currently touring with one of Europe's largest Theatre in Education companies, White Horse Theatre Company.
Based in Germany they tour schools in Germany, Sweden, Denmark. France, Austria, Belgium and even China and Japan, performing English plays to help teach English and educate about current affairs.
The nine-month tour Liam is currently on began in September and is travelling through Germany and northern Bavaria.
Liam said: "We had a four-week rehearsal period to rehearse three different plays (for different age pupils) then we jump in a van and off we go. So far I have been in more than 260 performances, some days doing three different shows.
"The shows are My Cousin Charles by Peter Griffith for children 10-13 years old. It's a very slapstick piece, fun and crazy madcap mayhem about a spoiled brat (me) who stays with his cousin and the trouble they cause to the neighbour.
 "The next is called Promised Land (pictured left) again written by Peter Griffith for children between 14-16 and is about a Syrian refugee who comes to England and is not accepted on to the street. A gang bullies him and beats him up. This is quite a serious piece and touches on themes of bullying, gang violence and racism and also the Syrian crisis. I play the leader of the gang in this and get to flex my violent, villainous muscles.
"The third play is for ages 17+ and it's Relatively Speaking by Alan Ayckbourn, (which has just finished its run in the West End with Felicity Kendall). I play the character of Greg and it's a proper English farce that touches on romance and trust and deception. It's great to get my teeth into an advanced piece of theatre.
"The company has seven other tours out at the same time covering primary schools to universities with plays written by the company and from John Osborne to Shakespeare. We play in a wide variety of venues from school halls to theatres to gyms! I've had a great time on the tour and it's been an amazing experience."
- Liam, from Burton-on-Trent, appeared in many LTC shows and still regularly returns to watch and help when work allows. He played Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Thenardier in Les Miserables School Edition. He also had principal roles for us in Summer Holiday and Brassed Off and supporting roles in many other productions.
