Event Recaps

Recently, the GaMEP hosted two large state-wide events. See below for recaps on both:

On May 14, the GaMEP hosted the 6th Annual Lean Leadership event. More than 120 Lean Consortium members from manufacturing companies across the state heard David Marquet speak about the Leader-Leader approach. Best-selling author of "Turn the Ship Around!", Marquet, former captain of the USS Santa Fe, empowered his crew to be leaders, turning a crew from being ranked last in retention and operational standards to being first in their class. Using his experience in the Navy as the base, he discussed how manufacturers can embrace learning as a primary activity and how they can build an inspired team. Additionally, Interface, a GaMEP client, followed up Marquet's presentation with points on how they are going down the Leader-Leader approach to management and what their success has been to-date.

On April 14,the GaMEP and partners hosted a supplier development conference in the Macon area. Focused on aligning large manufacturers with local suppliers, the event attracted over 100 people from 79 manufacturing companies. These 79 manufacturing companies were given the opportunity to “speed date” with large manufacturers in Central Georgia to grow their business. We have received a lot of interest in taking this event to other areas of the state. Stay tuned!
