Volunteer Corner

Volunteers are extremely important to Better Days!  They help with cleaning at the shelter and help at all of the thrift stores.  If you are interested in helping Better Days by providing time, please visit the volunteer section of the website.  This month, meet Theresa!

Theresa Lawrence started volunteering in 2008, making her one of our longest running volunteers.  It all started with a little feral girl, Belle, who brought her two babies into the yard just before the winter ... but before Theresa knew it, both Belle's daughters had kittens.  Theresa was able to find homes for 1 litter, and Better Days rescued the remaining kittens ... ever since then, Theresa has been a dedicated care taker of all the kitties living at the shelter and a serious advocate for spay/neuter!  Theresa works full-time at Letterkenny Army Depot, but you can find her most Saturday mornings in the cattery with a bucket, mop, and sponge in hand...she may even let the kitties style her hair!  Better Days is grateful for Theresa Lawrence and her many years of volunteer service!

Featured Adoptable Pets:
Meet Wally!  Wally is a young, active dog who is looking for an active family where he can thrive.  Wally was adopted as a puppy but recently returned by his former owners due to correctable behavior traits.  Wally is house-trained, crate-trained and already knows several tricks.  He is looking for a family to help him with his leash skills.  His former owners indicate he nipped at a child, therefore, he would be recommended for a home with older children or a home experienced with handling these types of traits of a herding mixed breed.  For more information, visit his Petfinder ad or fill out an adoption application to meet Wally.
Meet Lilly!  Lilly is about two years old and has a non-progressive disorder, cerebellar hypoplasia (also known as CH).  Lilly's CH primarily affects her back legs.  She walks with jerky movements and has poor balance at times.  Lilly is unable to jump and to our knowledge doesn't climb, so if you are looking for a cat that will stay off of your counter tops, Lilly is the cat for you.  Lilly is a very happy little girl who loves people.  Lilly is quite a character and is just looking for a fur-ever home.  She is spunky and determined and does not allow her disorder to define her.  For more information, please fill out an adoption application to meet Lilly!
