Pray for peace in Thailand...

The Thai military declared a coup today. Here's the Bangkok Post article. TV channels and western news media outlets are blocked as I type, so you'll have to tell me what foreign reporters are saying about Thailand. But I write this brief memo to tell you that we're alright and feeling comfortable. A lot of our friends are actually happy and feel safe. There are some inconveniences for a while, like curfews and early closings of public transportation systems, and some stores.

Some short term mission teams this summer will have to evaluate their plans. I plan to stay here with my family and still welcome visitors. But as long as the State Department issues warnings I cannot guarantee your safety or anything. I'm just saying my family's here and feeling comfortable, so you're welcome to join us too. As of now, I'm continuing my summer plans; but do feel free to postpone or cancel your visits-- I totally understand. (I'd probably not be wanting to visit your country if it's going through a coup or even martial law.
