NEW BEERS! Prosit!

Hello Jazz Lovers!

Some of you may have noticed my absence from the shop in the last year...I needed to bow out of the fast lane and sort out my health. As you all know health is everything and recovery is a long road but with the help of an amazing staff, family and customers that are like family...I'm happy to say, I'M BACK IN THE GAME.

I'm most excited about our European Beer Invasion (think 'German Beer Garden' but without the lederhosen!). My favourites include Delirium Tremens (it's 8.5% - crazy!), a triple fermented Belgian golden ale, Mongozo, a fair-trade, organic, gluten-free pilsner, and Stiegl 'Radler' (2%), which means 'cyclist' in German and is a refreshing mix of lager and pure grapefruit juice. I could go on and on but you'll just have to come in and try them all for yourself!

HEADS UP! The Indonesian Chicken Pizza is back for one week ONLY (or while quantities last). For those of you who aren't in the loop - it's topped with a spicy peanut sauce base, chicken satay, fresh mangoes, and snow peas. Pretty much the best pizza you'll ever eat!

NEW! Chocolate Pecan Torte
There are two NEW desserts on the menu! The drool-worthy Chocolate Pecan Torte is a lusciously rich chocolate torte with a toasted pecan crust, drizzled with our in-house caramel. We've also brought back our beloved Carrot Cake! Topped with a velvety cream cheese frosting, this carrot cake is just how you like it - raisin + nut-free! BTW - All Desserts are Gluten-free!
NEW Art Show - Rachel Albano
MUST SEE art show! Rachel Albano is a fresh young artist from Elora, Ontario. Her abstract paintings are infused with colour, texture and emotion. She holds a Bachelors Honours degree from the University of Guelph in Studio Art and Art History and has exhibited her work at many of Guelph/Elora's best art establishments/events as well as at The Artist Project Toronto and The Summer Emerging Arts Exhibition @ Gallery 1313.
Well folks, it's been a loooooooong Winter/Spring but don't fret cause Summer's just around the corner. Please check out some of the trios passing through Guelph in June listed below. All highly recommended shows. Reservations always appreciated + voluntary cover.
I do hope to see you, your friends, and family soon!

     Upcoming Gigs:

Kite Trio - Sun. June 8 @ 6pm
Kite Trio has been establishing an alternative path for the modern jazz trio since Eric Couture-Telmosse (guitar), Eric Dew (drums), and Paul Van Dyk (bass) formed the band in 2008. They've created a bold sound that often elicits comparisons to 70s prog icons “Gentle Giant” and to modern day alt-jazz giants “The Bad Plus.” Their determination to experiment in the face of jazz tradition and to put it all on the line for the band makes Kite special.
Alex Pangman - Fri. June 13 @ 8pm
A unique and powerful songstress on the Canadian jazz scene, Alex Pangman has an unerring take on classic-era jazz, making music of the past captivatingly present through her infectious charm and sincerity.  Respectfully called “Canada’s sweetheart of swing”, she is joined by her trio, The Alleycats.
Sean Bray's Peach Trio - Sat. June 14 @ 8pm

Sean Bray's Peach Trio is a real honest hybrid of instrumental Americana roots with a jazz improv sensibility. They specialize in memorable, accessible melodies with beautiful harmony complete with twist and turns in the road. Sean Bray (guitar), Mark Dunn (bass), + David MacDougall (drums).

Pram Trio - Fri. June 20 @ 8pm
Toronto's Pram Trio combines elements of traditional jazz piano trio with contemporary styles of music both within and beyond the jazz genre. With a strong focus on collective improvisation, the trio shares the goal of creating the best music possible in the present moment. Mark Godfrey (bass), Jack Bodkin (piano), and Richard Piasetski (drums).
Parc X trio - Sat. June 21 @ 8pm
Parc X trio, a Montreal-based instrumental jazz trio, winners of the TD Grand Prize for Jazz at Montréal International Jazz Festival in 2010, is composed of Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano), Alex Lefaivre (double bass) and Alain Bourgeois (drums). The trio is known for their high energy live performances and charisma on stage.
