World Environment Week kicks off this THIS WEEKEND!
Sunday 1 June - Sunday 8 June


World Environment Week (June 1st - 8th) kicks off THIS WEEKEND with people throughout the Southern Highlands coming together to celebrate World Environment Day.

Supported by the Environment Levy, the theme of the week is LESS SCREENTIME, MORE GREENTIME! encouraging everyone (kids especially!) to turn off their TVs, computers, and other electronic gadgets, and to go out and experience all the fantastic things the natural world has to offer.

There's something for everyone! Activities on offer include:
Living the Good Life Self-Sufficiency Workshop
Sunday 1 June  |  10am-1pm
Join local sustainability gurus Judith and Paul Collins at their property The Keep - a self-sufficient edible landscape set in tranquil bushland reflecting the owners forty years of sustainable living. This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to see and learn how to create a more sustainable lifestyle for yourself.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments included.

Introduction to Orienteering

Lake Alexandra, Mittagong

Southern Highlands Orienteers are encouraging locals of all ages to join them in an event to be held in the beautiful bushland around Lake Alexandra in Mittagong. A great way to get involved in this fun, outdoor sport!

Project Wild Thing - Film screening

World Environment Day at Moss Vale PS
Thursday 5 June (by invitation only)
Moss Vale Public School are proud to be officially opening their new Bush Tucker Garden on World Environment Day. The garden has been built by  volunteers, parents, teachers and the wider community, along with support from Wingecarribee Shire Council (through the Environment Levy), Moss Vale TAFE, Moyengully Aboriginal Group and the National Parks & Wildlife Service.
Self-sufficiency Open Day

Less Screentime, More Greentime at the Southern Highlands Steiner School
Friday 6 June | from 1.30pm (by invitation only)
Inspired by the Council’s theme of ‘Less Screen Time – More Green Time’, the school is taking the opportunity to celebrate the central role of ‘green time’ in Steiner education and the school’s unique rural environment.
