Welcome to this special edition of the Winning Scotland Foundation newsletter. On 15 May, we hosted a huge event for 150 pupils from all over Scotland at St Peter the Apostle High School, Clydebank. We wanted to inspire as many young people as possible to be their personal best in life.
The day also gave us the exciting opportunity to announce our new honorary patrons, Sir Chris Hoy and Dr Katherine Grainger, who we are proud to welcome to the Foundation.
As it happened...
The pupils took part in workshops, run by our fantastic Champions in School athletes, that focused on learning that success comes from sustained effort and that failing can be seen as an opportunity to learn and grow.
In the afternoon we hosted an event for our patrons and supporters, allowing them to find out more about the work we do and hear directly from Chris and Katherine in a Q&A session hosted by Bill McFarlane.

The feedback that we received from the event was overwhelmingly positive, but don't just take our word for it, please take a look at our videos below which show some highlights from the event along with what pupils enjoyed and their own personal reflections on what they learnt.
So what's next?..
We want to build on the success of the event, the media coverage that we received and the interest from future supporters and partners. We also want to reach out to more organisations who have similar goals to ourselves about providing young people with life skills for the future. We are pleased to announce that Winning Scotland Foundation is bringing eminent psychologist Professor Carol Dweck to the UK to run a series of workshops across health, education, sport and business showcasing her work on developing a growth mindset. We will keep you updated on all this and more! |
