Howell Mill Corridor NC Zoning
Berkeley Park has taken the lead in creating a proposal to rezone Howell Mill Road to Neighborhood Commercial. This would bring many quality of life improvements to the stretch of road from Piedmont West to the Waterworks. A change to NC zoning would mean more trees and wider sidewalks among other enhancements along Howell Mill. Heather Hubble will present the proposal at the July 14 meeting, and UHNA will vote on whether to endorse it.
UHNA Restructuring
Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association, Inc. was formed last year for several reasons including to allow the neighborhood association to "own" its bank account, enter into contracts, and obtain insurance. It was leadership's intention to eventually file for 501(c)(4) non-profit status. In the process of doing that this year, we realized that we were incorrectly organized as a for profit corporation. Unfortunately, in the State of Georgia, to move from a for profit corporation to a non-profit corporation requires dissolution of the entity and reorganization as a non-profit. As such, we will be taking a vote at our next meeting to dissolve the existing entity in order to organize as a non-profit. The organization's name will remain Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association, Inc.
