Far more than just another festival, the Green Gathering is a real life showcase of renewable energy and off-grid technology. Authentically uncommercial and family friendly, our aim is to turn people on to low-impact living. A festival beyond hedonism, for people who love the earth enough to want to celebrate it, and save it.

     More than music;
         a community
      and an education

On the first weekend in August, in the grounds of a ruined neo-classical country house, surrounded by woodland with stunning views of the rivers Wye and Severn, and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you'll find:
folk, funk, punk and soul; poetry, comedy and art; dance, traditional medicine, ancient wisdom and crafts; campaigns to put right current injustices and practical skill-sharing for sustainable futures.

Art can make ideas fly

The Green Gathering has a history - stretching back decades - entwined with the Green and Peace movements, Glastonbury Festival, Stonehenge and Climate Camp. We've been through ups and downs, grown big, been busted and gone back to our roots. Join us, in 2014, at the original off-grid festival.

Drivers can find passengers for company and help with fuel costs; non-drivers can hitch a ride without having to stand on a roundabout with a flappy bit of cardboard. We all win.

Green Gathering blogging
As green event pioneers, we shared some tips for
how up-and-coming events could green up their act.

We also featured in the UK's biggest alternative magazine, The Spark.

From GG HQ

The Green Gathering will kick off with some fabulous acts on 31st July - 3 Daft Monkeys and Rory McLeod, amongst others - so take the time off and get to us on Thursday: the gates will open at noon; workshops and entertainment start 1pm...

SUMMER SOLSTICE SPECIAL!
Order your tickets through the GG web shop by midnight on 21st June and pay for them within 7 days to receive a fabulous, funky Free GLOBAL LOCAL CD.

We're putting the final touches and tweaks on the programme - a very full, fresh and exciting programme indeed. We're keeping a couple of good acts under our festival hats but this week can announce...

DJ CHRIS TOFU - An old friend of The Green Gathering, Chris is Glastonbury Festival's Shangri La maestro (and former Tofu Love Frog). He'll be remixing vintage dance tunes late night in The Forum, along with DJ Babel (electro swing), John Snug (Love Shack funk, punk and Northern Soul) and Libby Lawes (up-beat beats to set you soaring).

The Electric Brains: Friday, the Dandy Lion Stage

In the Off Grid College, Bez - former Happy Mondays hedonist, now fronting the Reality Party - will be debating DIY politics...

...while at Co-ops Camp a new wave of co-operators including Students for Co-operation and Bristol's Abolish Empty Office Buildings: House People invite you to live and dream an alternative to the rat race.

Talks & Skillshares
Literally hundreds of workshops and debates will take place over the four days of the Gathering, including:
  • Journalism - a revolutionary act
  • Deep Green Resistance & diversity of tactics
  • Frack Free - community protection & organising
  • Reclaim The Power
  • Direct Action Training
  • Commoning & Community Ownership
  • How to set up a Housing Co-op
  • Green Economics
  • Straw Bale Building
  • Stone Carving ("fashion a dream, set in stone...")
Women's Dome
This exciting feminist space will be located in the Campaigns Area. The dome is a supportive women-only relaxation space (with cushions, teas, books), and a skill-sharing hub. There'll be workshops in self defense, bike skills, consent issues, diverse relationships and feminist health.

The Liberated Feast
Campaigning against global food waste, The Liberated Feast turns surplus produce into banquets, raising awareness and funds to tackle poverty, starvation and unequal distribution of resources. At GG, they'll be educating us with liberated trifles & truffles (yes really!).

UkeJam
Do you have a ukelele? If so, bring it! Ukejam is an orchestra-jam-sing-a-long, open to all; a social and musical event (compared to an Irish singing pub in England... or in this case, Wales). Ukejam will be offering workshops all weekend, culminating in a performance Sunday afternoon. If you don't have a uke, they'll provide one; and if you play any other acoustic instrument, you can bring it along for the Jam, too.

Green Gathering By Bicycle
To get off the grid before you even arrive, you could join the Great Green Bristol Bike Ride: you'll get a discount festival ticket, chance to win a pre-pitched tent from Camplight... and your luggage transported for you! The 25 mile ride will be led by an experienced cycle guide, following a scenic route under the Clifton Suspension Bridge, through the picturesque Severn Vale and over the Severn Bridge into Wales. A fairly flat ride, suitable for most abilities of cyclist: if you don't live in Bristol, jump on a train with bike, then join the ride!

Authentic Dwellings
Now, in addition to our Tipi hire and Camplight's upcycled tents, Avalon Yurts are offering you the chance to stay in the natural beauty of a traditional Kyrgyz yurt or simple bell tent at the Gathering.

Tickets
Adults still only £90, Youth £50, Kids Free! (+booking fee)
GG e-Ticket Shop to pay by BACS or cheque;

Bristol Ticket Shop for debit and credit card sales.

We hope to see you all at Green Gathering 2014
