Message from Dr. Decker:

Don't Make Safety the Last Thing You Think About:
Let's face it. Safety is just NOT that exciting to talk about! It's the last thing we think about, but really it should be the first. When I first walked my pregnant tired self into the baby store to choose a car seat, I was focused on picking the color out. I soon was shocked to realize there were dozens of car seats to choose from, all with different mind-boggling sorts of safety features, recommendations, and research. I knew I would have my work cut out for me.

I am a pediatrician and when I showed up for the car seat check at our local fire station, I had installed it wrong! I repeat, I am a pediatrician. But I am not alone - 75% of car seats are installed incorrectly. Safety is not just about good old common sense. It takes effort and here are a few resources to get you started.
A few resources you may find helpful in and around the community:

Back to School Immunization Clinics
Learn about the Risks of E-Cigarettes
Car Seat Inspection Locations
Internet Safety
The Facts about All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
