Dear Friend,
Last week, we launched our first-ever Kickstarter campaign, hoping that we would be able to reach our target goal of $15,000 to help complete the Global Jukebox Song Tree, a free, online resource for exploring world music and culture, produced by Alan Lomax.
In just 8 days, with the support of over 400 backers, we have achieved this goal.
We're extremely grateful - and excited to do more. That's why we're introducing a new stretch goal of $30,000, which will allow us to program new analytical tools planned for the Global Jukebox. The addition of a Virtual Dynamic Coding Sheet will give the user access to a powerful Similarity application with which one may compare individual and modal performances and discover their similarities and differences. A Patterns application, also controlled by the user with the Virtual Dynamic Coding Sheet, will locate, map, and chart the distribution of musical traits throughout the world.
We have 3 weeks left to make this happen, and we need your help. Please spread the word, or make a pledge. Your tax-Âdeductible contribution will help complete the remaining programming, verify the metadata related to each song, and bring the Song Tree online. All donors will be given early access to the Song Tree when it reaches the beta stage and before it is publicly launched, and we have some great rewards for higher pledge levels, with more to be added.
Please go to our Kickstarter page for more information, and as always, thank you for your continued support of our programs.
Sincerely,
Executive Director
