Lesson plans & professional development for teachers:

We have a few spots still open for our Summer Institute. Learn more here, and don't miss our newly revised and updated lesson plans.

How can you keep up with the latest news and views in personal genetics? Check out the resources at pgEd!

pgEd's blog features the latest news on genome sequencing being used as a tool to save a young man's life, updates on genetic risk factors for concussions and autism research, and a new feature called "On the Cutting Edge" that highlights research advances in the field of personal genetics.

We also have launched our video series, "Join the Conversation," which asks people from all walks of life: What does genetics mean to you? Please share these videos widely - we are hoping to expand the series soon with new voices joining the discussion. Special thanks to Emmy-award winner Marilyn Ness and Big Mouth Productions for making our videos come to life.

Map-Ed news
Our new genetics education game, Map-Ed, now features a quiz on the microbiome. With over 6000 pins on all 7 continents, it is a hit! We hope you will play and share the game with friends, colleagues, students and whoever else might like to test their knowledge of key concepts in genetics and the microbiome. Thanks to Carlos Olguin and his team at Autodesk for the new and improved map.
pgEd on the road
pgEd was thrilled to conduct a Congressional briefing in May, as part of our efforts to engage and educate policymakers. We plan to return to Washington DC later this year for a second briefing, as well as to participate in the Smithsonian's "Genome: Unlocking Life's Code" exhibit. We will again be at NSTA and ASHG in the coming year. Check out our upcoming events page to see if we're heading to a city near you.
