Ask Dr. Dalton...It's not what you can do, but can't do!
When asked what the best exercise or stretch to do, my response is often that it's not what you can do, but what you can't do!  One needs to be aware of body movements and postural positioning as these are very important irritants that prevent a more rapid recovery. Essentially they become microcosms of repeated injuries. The tissues don't get a good chance to recover at a faster pace because of trying to recover from the last insult.  It's not until getting these under control and know the aggravating factors can exercises and stretching activities be added to a rehabilitation routine.

CTM
Connective Tissue Molding (CTM) has been going on now for the past several months.
Participants are seeing definite improvements in flexibility and pain levels. Click here for more information about this program and classes.  I  know that it will make a difference to those that participate.
The first class to take is the Root.  I will explain what CTM is all about, why it's unique and answer all questions.
There are spaces available and have limited class sizes to 6. Click here to schedule and see what is available.
Stretch of the Month:  Back of Neck
To start, please note the following, moving the head in the backward (extension) direction should be done sitting, especially if you have a lot of arthritis in the neck or have some blood vessel issues such as hypertension or arteriosclerosis. You could get really dizzy and fall. Do it sitting for several sessions to see how you feel before trying it in a standing position.
It will be the safest to stretch the neck either side to side or forward directions. Whatever you do, do not roll the head in a circular movement. This has the possibility of compressing the vertebral artery causing you to get dizzy or fainting! We see athletes do it all the time, it is just not safe or a good habit to get into. Instead of the rolling the head, simple tilt the head to the side and let it rest here for 10-30 seconds, then go back to the neutral position. From here, rotate a few degrees and tilt the head forward and let it rest for 10-30 seconds again, then return to the neutral position. Repeat this until you've rotated all the way to the right and all the way to the left. Use your discretion as to how much force needs to be applied. The bottom line is that duration with muscle relaxation are the key factors, not the amount of force. Note that the left cheek and forehead are relaxed into the left biceps as the fingers grasp the lower part of the back of the heads on the RIGHT side. Everything is reversed when the head is rotated to the right.
