The voice of PPD Learning in the NLP community — February 2014

Yes! It's the beginning of spring!

This newsletter we've done a bit differently as you can see - there's a short video of my news which includes some tips and encouragement on practising your NLP skills.

As well as my book of the month I am also letting you know about the special Language Training with Dr. Chris Hall in July which is being sponsored by one of our PPDL friends, Dave Rogers.

Chris was part of our special guest team on the Masters for many years. It is a real pleasure to personally recommend this programme to take your NLP language skills to a whole new level.

Did you know btw at PPDL we have a stash of the brilliant MP3s of Robert Dilts' trainings with us? There's a professional recording of every programme from the last 7 years on a variety of topics, 10-12 hours on each disc, a real treat - see below.

We're powering on with the PPD Learning Practice Group book - chapters from Joseph O'Connor, Simon Horton, Anne Deering, Cricket Kemp, Juliet Grayson, Paddy Bergin, Chris Howell etc and forewords by  both Robert Dilts and Judy DeLozier. Gonna be amazing - and ready for you by the summer, I'll keep you posted.

Hope you're all loving the sunshine and the springy feeling in the air.

With warmest wishes

What's on top of Judith's book pile today?

The Last Asylum by Barbara Taylor

Some of you will have already heard this on R4 Book of the Week or see the extracts and reviews in the press. I was lucky to buy my copy at the launch party at the Wellcome Institute and I started on it immediately on the train home!

I'm always interested in books about the therapeutic process and the history of how 'mental health' or psychological problems are understood and treated.

Barbara Taylor is a feminist historian who also had a major breakdown, during which she admitted herself to one of the last huge Victorian Asylums in North London. This is a very readable account - part diary, part history, part polemic about the kinds of interventions that help people when they are in profound psychological distress.

Her plea is for us to retain community spaces and genuine, relational support for patients, in a system in which mainly drugs and mechanistic CBT type therapies are now offered.

The actual last asylum she refers to  is now a gated luxury housing development of course!

Language in Action. Action in Language

with Christina Hall PhD

13-18 July

By popular demand The Language Workshop, presented by Chris Hall, is back again after a two year absence.

This six day workshop is the culmination, to date, of 30 years of leading edge experience in NLP and is the current understandings of her research and development of Language and the Meta-Model.

If you yearn for a system that allows you to precisely apply your interventions, to provide elegant and impactful change then contact Dave Rogers on, dave@nosmorex.co.uk, and get the full details of this July event.

Numbers will be limited to a small group, so it is recommended that you apply early.
