Showcasing the beauty of the human spirit - in mid air - around the world

.....

"Being with joy means being willing to be stretched, to expand to hold it all. With joy, we are stretched to take in the enormity of it all - ourselves, the world, the mystery. And this frightens us. We have been taught that with too great a sense of our own largeness we lack humility or invite dangerous envy." - Oriah

MURAL UPDATE: Let the fun begin!

This week I am expecting the Kisckstarter money will available to me... which means: I can begin creating the mural!

I will be enlarging the images, then printing them in sections of approximately 2000 sheets. They will be cut and pasted together before applying them to the wall. I'm looking for some crafty volunteers who would like to help.

If you are in Vancouver,
interested in getting crafty and skilled at cutting and pasting paper.. email: info@jumpforjoyphotoproject.com

And now, the Fabulous featured jumper of the week:

SARA HAROWITZ ...

From: I was born in Richmond, B.C.
Lives: I inhabit Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.
Work: I'm a journalist/writer/editor.

Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
There's something empowering about being lifted up by nothing other than your own strength. So I guess I'm inspired to jump by the fact that I'm able to do so in the first place.

Q. Your experience doing jumping photos?
A:
I'm used to being the one behind the scenes, so I was definitely a little camera shy at first. But once I got going, my adrenaline took over and it ended up being a whole lot of fun. I had done an 18k hike the day before so I was worried my body wouldn't be too keen on leaping around, but the jumping actually gave me MORE energy.

Q: What inspires you in life?
A:
Anything and everything. The people around me and a really good piece of writing.

Q: Your greatest passion?
A:
Hopefully the work I do and the person I am can spark some kind of positive impact, somewhere, however small. Also, tacos.

Q: Your driving force?
A:
I strive to lead a life of meaning — one I can look back on with pride. I'm not exactly sure what that entails just yet, but I'm having a grand ol' time figuring it out.

Q: Philosophy?
A:
I went to hear Ira Glass speak a while back and he said something that really stuck with me: "Be a soldier and invent your own future." It reminds me that I'm in charge of my own destiny. I try to make opportunities happen for myself instead of waiting for them to arrive.

Q: Anything in the world?
A: I'm pretty content with where my life is at right now (and certainly with where it seems to be headed), but I wouldn't say no to a beach and a bourbon, either.

Q. Working on?
A:
I'm currently the B.C. associate editor for The Huffington Post Canada. It's still pretty crazy to think that I'm paid to do something I enjoy as much as I do.

Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
A:
I have a very large magazine collection and am fairly certain there's no such thing as a bad time for ice cream.
