June has come and nearly gone, and yours truly is up to her ears in publications. For you see, I've taken over the publication of the World Parrot Trust's quarterly magazine, PsittaScene,
and well, it's pretty exciting. Leaving PsittaScene in my and WPT colleague Michelle Kooistra's hands (and not forgetting the admirable Karen Whitley in the UK)
is Joanna Eckles, most excellent editor/publisher and a tremendous support to us for this transition. Joanna produced many stellar issues in over 15 years with the Trust, and we wish her well in her new adventures.
In the meantime, Flock Talk will still occur every month, and PsittaScene every season - all parrots, all the time, with the news, projects and other good WPT bits you've come to expect from us all.
Best regards,
Desi Milpacher, Flock Talk editor

Volunteer opportunity
Echo Bonaire
|
Interested in helping endangered Yellow-shouldered Amazons on the Caribbean island of Bonaire? Echo Bonaire is looking for a volunteer who would care for the birds
not suitable for release back into the wild, and monitor the released birds as well. Other work includes aviary maintenance, food collection, and gardening.
If you are handy, fit,
able to get up in the wee small hours of the morning and can spot a parrot at thirty paces, this is the chance for you.

In Memory of Malcolm Ellis
Supporting Scarlet Macaw Conservation
Malcolm Ellis, a longtime Cornwall, UK resident, died at the age of 72 in February 2013. He was a lifelong aviculturist since his days at London Zoo, and a supreme bird artist whose work helped to raise money and awareness for parrots around the world. He was the Editor of the UK Avicultural Society's journal and his stunning artwork gave the World Parrot Trust's signs a unique and eye-catching design that raised awareness and funds to help parrots around the world.
The WPT is working to save Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala. These projects help restore populations through rescue and release, education and habitat protection.
Thank you for helping Malcolm's passion live on through your donation!
