President's Updates

Dear TACL,

Hope everyone has been able to stay cool and enjoy some cold Taiwan Beer and roasted sweet potatoes on these warm summer nights. We have a lot of exciting things going on this summer so please be sure to scroll through the entire newsletter.

First and foremost, we look forward to seeing everyone at our National Convention over Labor Day weekend in Washington D.C. from Friday August 29th to September 2nd.  Please book your tickets if you haven’t already done so!

As summer has started, we are very excited for our summer programs such as camps and internships.  TACL-LYF began on June 24th and TACL-LID begins on August 6th.  The Political Internship in LA and DC are in full swing with 6 interns in this year’s class. Please be sure to support these young people as they are our future leaders. (I was a Political Intern in LA in the summer of 2005!)

Finally, please follow us on Instagram: taclorg. We want to be able to continue to connect with you on various platforms and will be using Instagram to spotlight Taiwanese American leaders. Check us out; let's follow each other.

With my best,

Bob Wu
TACL National President

FUN! In the Time of TACL

Board members of TACL programs volunteer hours and hours of our free time to help build a stronger Taiwanese American community for ourselves and generations to come. Dedication to our common goal stems from passion and is maintained through incentives. So, how are we incentivized/paid?  Across all TACL programs, we are paid in "FUN!".

Check out how our various programs work together, volunteer together, have fun together.

Which chapter do you think has the most FUN!??

Vote for your favorite video by clicking one of the links below. Each click is 1 vote and everyone has unlimited votes until July 15th!  Check on our website on July 16th for the announcement of the most FUN! chapter.

Celebrating Taiwanese American Heritage Week in May

From orchids to puppets to dough figurines, TA organizations all over the country came out in force to celebrate May's Taiwanese American Heritage Week. San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, among others, held festivals that brought Taiwanese flavors and culture stateside.

Summer is just around the corner...

And for many of us, that brings fond memories of Taiwanese American Youth Camps!

TACL recognizes the immense value that these camps provide to both their youth and the entire TA community, which is why we've begun facilitating a collaborative forum with participants from 7 leading TA youth camps across the country. Here is a quick look at these camps, and you can also read more about the initiative in my recent blog post.

If you have any questions, or would like to get involved (whether as a counselor, sending your child as a camper, forming partnerships, or reaching campers/counselors), don't hesitate to contact me!

Have a great summer!

Share Taiwan!

TACL just released the first infographic in a series of posters directed at educating the American public on Taiwanese culture and history in a unique and interesting way. The "Share Taiwan" campaign kicks off on a sweet note, with fun facts about Taiwan's most famous drink: Boba milk tea!

If you love boba and Taiwan, spread the word, and "Share Taiwan" by posting the infographic on your Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with the hashtag #ShareTaiwan.
