Library Closings

The Library will be closed Friday, July 4 for the Independence Holiday. The Library will reopen Saturday, July 5 at 9:30 a.m. 

The Library will be closed Sunday, July 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Library Friends

Check out the Friends Second Saturday Sales coming up on July 12 and August 9! These sales are offered each month from 9:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. The first hour is open to members only. Not a Friends member? Memberships are very affordable and available on our website, at the door on the day of the sale or pick up a membership form at the Welcome Desk the next time you visit the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Your library card gets you free stuff!  Ask at the Circulation Desk about these passes. 
 
The Michigan Activity Pass is back for another fun-filled summer of visiting Michigan museums and cultural attractions for free! Just visit michiganactivitypass.info for information on how you can get free or reduced admission to dozens of participating institutions.
 
The MI Big Green Gym is coming back to offer another season of free passes to participating parks around Michigan. Click here to find out which parks are participating!
 
Cranbrook Passes provide unlimited general admission for two weeks to the bearer and one guest to Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook House & Gardens, Cranbrook Institute of Science and the Williams Natatorium. Check these passes out at the circulation desk today!

 

Adult Services

Making Music: Tumbao Bravo Cuban Fusion Concert
Join us on Friday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m. for a dance party! The 1990’s saw Latin music become part of the mainstream of popular music in America.  Winners of the 2005, 2007 and 2013 Detroit Music Awards for Best Jazz Recording and Best World Music Band, Tumbao Bravo fuses Cuban Jazz and up-tempo dance. Open to all. 

Maker Lab:  Altered Books with the BBAC
On Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., learn how to make amazing art from recycled books. Space is limited and registration is required. 
 
Make It @ Your Library:  Cake Decorating with Heather Tocco of The Home Bakery
Stop by the Library on Tuesday, July 29 from 7-8 p.m. to get tips and tricks for making beautiful cakes from Heather Tocco of the Home Bakery in Rochester. For adults and teens. Registration is required.

Youth Services

Wildlife Safari “Animals from Around the World”
Go on a wildlife safari at the library on Tuesday, July 1 at 2 p.m.! Nelson “The Animal Guy” combines his Adventure Story Presentation with real creatures in this exciting and unique hands-on experience of the animal world. For ages 5 and older.
 
Bathtub Science
Science experiments in the tub?! Discover the science of bubbles, soap, rubber duckies and more on Monday, July 28 at 11 a.m.! For ages 4 and older. Registration begins July 7.
 
Sciencepalooza with the Michigan Science Center
Join us Tuesday, July 29 from 3 – 5 p.m. for this unique experience with the Michigan Science Center! Explore this dynamic hands-on learning experience that includes 12 hands-on activity stations where young scientists, ages 5 and older, will discover various science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (S.T.E.M.).
 
The Youth Services Department is offering some fun drop-in programs this summer such as LEGO Club and S.T.E.A.M. Maker Story Time. Don’t forget to register for monthly programs such as art lab and our book discussions. Click here for a complete program schedule and for more information.

 

Computers

The Library continues to offer a variety of hands-on computer classes, such as Zinio: Download Free Magazines, Introduction to PowerPoint and Introduction to Scanning & Photoediting.
