This event will feature inaugural wine samples, light bites, and purchase opportunities! There is no need to RSVP for this event, but we'd love to know if you're able to join us!

Our friends from Vincent Wine Company, who will be previewing their 2009 Pinot noirs, will also join us.

We will also have a special preview of a new wine brand co-operative between Anne Hubatch and three other winemakers!

Additionally, the tasting room of Grochau Cellars and Boedecker Cellars will also be open during the event.  Please plan to check them out as well!

The 2009 Wines
Helioterra produces two blends of Pinot Noir, the Willamette Valley and the Vintner’s Select.  Both blends consist of grapes from three Willamette Valley vineyards: Apolloni Vineyard, Buckhaven Vineyard and Domaine Coteau Vineyard.

In 2009, we also produced a Syrah from Coyote Canyon Vineyard in Washington's Horse Heaven Hills.  This wine will be released in Spring 2011. Please stay tuned for the spring release of this wine along with our 2010 Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc!

2009 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
The Willamette Valley Pinot noir is a blend of all three Pinot noir vineyards. The wine is loaded with aromatics of dark cherries, cranberry, toasted almonds and a subtle hint of herbaceousness. It is incredibly focused, and lively, with a juicy core of red fruit with a lingering finish. The wine was aged for eleven months in French oak barrels with approximately 27% new oak.
248 cases were produced. Retail $22

2009 Vintner's Select Pinot Noir
The Vintner’s Select is just that.  The best barrel was selected from each vineyard site, and then blended to create a very special wine.  Flavors and aromatics are similar to the Willamette Valley, but with more nuance, elegance and just a touch more toast.  In contrast, it expresses far greater structure and creamy mouthfeel, with greater potential for aging.  The wine was aged for eleven months in French oak barrels and has 50% new oak.
Just 25 cases were produced.  Retail $36

Inaugural Vintage
After nearly a decade in the Oregon wine industry, last year, we decided it was time to create our own wine.  In 2009, with the tremendous support of my husband Robert and my children, we took the steps to launch Helioterra Wines.

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to share these inaugural wines with our friends, family and the world!  It has long been our goal to launch our own brand and we are ecstatic that the time has come.  We hope you enjoy drinking the wines of Helioterra as much as I have enjoyed making them.  I pour my heart and soul into my wines, and I think it shows.  I hope you think so too.

Cheers!
~Anne (Ebenreiter) Hubatch and family

About the name
Helioterra is named after the Oregon State Gemstone, Heliolite, more commonly know as Sun Stone.  Changing the word to Helioterra brought together two Greek words: helio and terra literally translated to sun and earth.  What could be more fitting partners to the vine than sun and earth?
