Meg in Europe

Whilst the rest of us get used to the wind and wet, Megan is racing a Laser Radial in Europe with her friend Sophie, and attending an Austrian school. In the four weeks she's been there she's competed in three regattas so far in predominantly light conditions.

Megan reports that spring temperatures on the water have ranged from 30 deg recently to under 10 deg on Traunsee on the edge of the Alps - a real test. Her results:
  • Sail Centrope 2014 (Austrian Nationals) in Podersdorf:  5th - Woman's Laser Radial
  • Traunseewoch (near Gmunden):  19th - Mixed Radial Fleet
  • Spring Cup Regatta - UYC Neusiedlersee (near Vienna):  14th - Mixed Radial Fleet
Megan reports that she's starting to get "a handle" on sailing the Laser now and has learned a lot.  There's a possibility of one more big regatta in Hungary still, otherwise the focus now turns from sailing back to schoolwork and a bit of Austrian culture before coming home in time for Term 3.

Here's a picture of her sailing in Podersdorf!

See you next Saturday!
