Music Summer Sundays Continue with July's Leader, Chase Jordan

Music Summer Sundays continue in Sanders Hall (on the second floor of the Latham Building) on July 6 and 13 during the 10 o'clock hour. Children and youth are all encouraged to be a part of this fun Sunday morning program, this month featuring a different music style altogether!

The July music leader will be Chase Jordan, a native of Houston and graduate of the High School for Performing and Visual Arts. Chase is considered a master of the vibraphone.

Chase is the band director at Houston’s MacGregor Elementary Music and Science Magnet. He has toured, performed, and recorded with many notable artists such as Lionel Hampton, Joe Sample, Solange Knowles, and Wynton Marsalis.

For more information about the program, contact Lisa Puccio.

Faith at Home — Vacation Prayers

During this time of year when so many of us are traveling, here are some prayers for safe and happy travel to share with children and friends.

O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
— The Book of Common Prayer

Dear God, bless those who travel. May your word be a lantern to their feet and a light upon their path, that at journey’s end they may safely rest in the knowledge of your grace and protection. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen
— Anne E. Kitch, “The Anglican Family Prayerbook”

Dear Lord, thank you for the opportunity to take a break from our daily routines and to replenish our minds, bodies and souls so they we may better serve you. Help us not to worry about having the “perfect” vacation but to relax and enjoy every moment, whatever it may bring. We are grateful for the joys that await us. Watch over us and protect us as we travel, and bring us safely home again, refreshed and renewed. Amen.

The Mission of the Children's Ministry Council…

The members of the council are Kristin Avery, Alex Bentlif, Judson Crowder, David Dowdy, Anne Furse (chair), Kaki Grubbs (vestry), Kristin Johnson, Jim Maloney, Scottie McCord, Jen Moss, Lyman Paden, Sarah Wallace and Lisa Puccio (staff).
