Rabbi Daniel Kada Appointed New Rabbi
of Wembley Spanish & Portuguese Jews’ Congregation

The Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Congregation are pleased to announce the appointment of Rabbi Daniel Kada as Rabbi of the Wembley Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue.

Rabbi Kada joins the Spanish & Portuguese Jews’ Congregation from TAL (Torah Action Life), an organisation catering for young Jewish professionals from across the community, but with an emphasis of those of Sephardi heritage. He is also a regular lecturer at Kneset Yehezkel Synagogue in Golders Green. A graduate of Menorah Grammar School and Gateshead Yeshivah, he spent five additional years studying at Mir Yeshiva of Jerusalem and subsequently Darkei Hora’ah Le’rabanim. He obtained his rabbinical ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He is married to Tamar, and is blessed with two girls – Ayala and one who has just been born and will soon be named.

Rabbi Kada commented: ‘It is my honour and privilege to be part of this historically unique establishment especially at such an exciting time for the Spanish & Portuguese Jews’ Congregation with the imminent arrival of Rabbi Joseph Dweck as Senior Rabbi. Wembley S&P is a vibrant and warm synagogue and my wife and I are very excited to take an active role in leading the community from strength to strength'.

Rony Sabah, Chairman of Wembley, said: ’The Committee and the whole congregation are very happy with the appointment of Rabbi Kada as the new Rabbi of Wembley. We welcome him and his family to our Wembley Family and look forward to his inspiring leadership’.

Jonathan Solomons  Parnas Presidente of the Mahamad  said ‘Rabbi Kada's appointment signifies the importance we place on progress at all of the communities under our umbrella. Together with the impending arrival of our new Senior Rabbi Joseph Dweck, it shows that the Spanish & Portuguese  ‎Jews' Congregation is committed to new leadership, ideas and programming to move our community forwards.’

The Spanish and Portuguese Jews Congregation is the oldest Jewish congregation in the United Kingdom, and was established following the resettlement of the Jews in 1656. By the middle of the 18th Century, the community had already established the beginnings of what wider society now knows as a Welfare State, with an old age home, an elementary school, a burial society and a hospital. The Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Congregation personifies the attitude of British Jews: participating in the life of their country whilst also remaining true to their heritage.

Wembley Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue was established more than 40 years ago. It is the third component community of the Spanish & Portuguese Jews’ Congregation, alongside Bevis Marks and Lauderdale Road.
