One of a Kind Projects

This month's newsletter features two unique projects; Fisher Pavilion's Ice Rink and a recent project for the Washington State Ferries.

Fisher Pavilion Seattle Center: Ice Rink
Fisher Pavilion is a multipurpose exhibition hall located in Seattle Center designed by Miller Hull Partnership. The previous existing Pavilion was demolished and a new building was constructed in 2002, recessed into the campus landscaping. The building features constant volume heating & cooling from the campus plant; ventilation cooling; enhanced envelope insulation through earth coupling; and low impact mechanical systems.

This type of ice rink was a first time experience for GBG. We matched a water chiller to a portable ice rink tubing mat and designed an open system to pump chilled brine through the tubing array. Fisher Pavilion is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects the firm has completed; during the winter holidays, the building converts into an indoor skating rink by flooding the floor and operating the chiller to create ice. We are always pleased to see how much the patrons and kids enjoy skating.

Ferry Noise / Vibration Survey
Greenbusch provided a noise and vibration survey of a new 144 car Washington State Ferry (WSF) as required by WSF specifications. The survey covered noise and vibration from general running conditions, HVAC systems and emergency power generation.

Greenbusch also provides technical expertise in vertical transportation design and commissioning services.
