LNA Newsletter - Summer 2014

Summer is in full swing and we at the Alliance hope that all our members, partners, and supporters are taking some time out of our busy schedules to enjoy all that West Michigan has to offer.  Nevertheless, the work of the Alliance continues!  Check out our Summer Newsletter below with a number of updates for members.

Ottawa Housing Next
On May 14th a group of 100 community stakeholders from different sectors came together to hear a presentation on the state of Housing in Ottawa County (particularly as it relates to a lack of affordability) and began the hard work of putting together first steps to addressing this very real problem. The Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance and our partner in the Ottawa County Human Services Coordinating Council have taken a leadership role in structuring and facilitating this process.  If you would like to learn more or potentially participate in this worthy initiative please read the brief follow up attached Here (with contact information included on how to engage).

Paper Shredding Service Available for LNA Members

Do you have sensitive information that you would like shredded on a regular basis?  LNA Members now have the opportunity to utilize a FREE shredding service run by the Community Based Services Program.  This is a division of Community Mental Health where adults with developmental disabilities utilize their gifts to provide shredding services with the intent of promoting community inclusion and participation, independence, and productivity.  This service includes pick up from your location!  Contact Patrick if you are interested in learning more.

Do you have your Fall Fundraiser Scheduled?

Fall Fundraisers are right around the corner and it can be difficult picking the right date without knowing when other nonprofits are hosting events.  Make sure to submit your events through our shared calendar LNA Calendar because everybody benefits!

LNA Facilitated Collaborations

Unless you are actively involved with any of the collaborations that LNA has helped facilitate, you likely aren't aware of what is taking place. This is largely intentional due to the often private nature of issues addressed. However, in this month's newsletter we want to give a teaser for an upcoming community project to be launched by a collaborative of local arts organizations (see and click below).
