Thank you, Dave!

Dave Elmore is retiring – for the second time. After volunteering for years with Green Action Centre, Dave promptly became a staff member upon finishing 30 years at Public Works and Government Services Canada. We were so lucky to have him here the past 5 years. Sneaking suspicion that he'll be back!
Mosquito fogging – is it that time already?

While it feels like the warm weather just got started (and then stopped again), it's time to register your home for a mosquito fogging buffer zone. Not sure if it's for you? Check out 7 reasons why to register your home or apartment today. Either way, be sure to get rid of standing water around your yard or balcony. Obvious culprits include eaves and containers.

Green at Work on Omand's Creek clean-up

Green Action Centre pitched in with Cadillac Fairview's "Green at Work" program for the annual Omand's Creek clean-up. The Red-winged Blackbirds, milkweed, and many other species and fauna appreciated it!

DIY: Everyone loves a Fungi! Grow your own

Freshly picked mushrooms, yum! If you're nervous (not a bad thing) about picking wild mushrooms, consider growing your own in the backyard. On a log, of all things! Get a cap full of facts and photos here.
Manitoba wins! Winnipeg and Thompson score gold in Commuter Challenge

Who needs a bike, car or bus to get to work when we have such beautiful rivers? Not Jean-Guy Bourgeois and his co-workers who paddled their way to work during Commuter Challenge 2014. Manitoba once again had the highest participation of all provinces. Congrats to the communities of Winnipeg and Thompson for taking nation-wide top honours in their population categories. Check out the winning workplaces here.

Clean Air Day at Rosser School – 8 km of fun

Biking 8 km with the students of Rosser School and giving out prizes to Manitoba schools had to be the best way to spend Clean Air Day! From start to finish, it was a ton of fun and we had the best weather for the ride too. Check out the winning schools here.
Bike to Work Day: dancing, eating, oh and cycling too

With Joe Coté on the keyboards (thanks, Joe!), it was an early morning dance party at Green Action Centre's pit stop on Bike to Work Day. Look for familiar faces in our Photo Wall of Fame.
Pesticide legislation passes!
Great news in time for summer (when it arrives). Bill 55 to reduce pesticide exposure has been passed by the province. Now it's on to drafting the regulations.

Nice to receive a tip of the hat from Green Communities Canada for Green Action Centre's work on the pesticide ban. Thanks!
