A renewed push for affordable housing in Denver

  Twelve years ago the Denver City Council passed an ordinance intending to add more affordable housing to a city that was booming with ever-expensive real estate — forcing any homebuilder of a complex with 30 or more units to offer 10 percent of them at prices aimed at low to moderate incomees.
  But the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance that attempted to give developers incentives to add affordable housing to their units is largely seen as a failure because so few units were ever built. Instead, builders paid into a fund that allowed them to sidestep the requirement.

Celebrating 4th of July
I know you may be asking yourself how does Rogelio celebrate the Fourth of July. Well, the last few years I've been going to Arvada's Independence Day Celebration at 58th and Oak St. There is always live music, food, vendors and a great fireworks display. The other event I usually attend is the Colorado Symphony's concert at Civic Park.
 
The orchestra performs patriotic and popular scores fit for the occasion. The concert together with the city building's light show and fireworks make it one of the best experiences around. I understand that this year the symphony will be at Fiddler's Green performing Star Wars and patriotic scores in a show called Independence Day Strikes Back. There is still a celebration at Civic Park on Friday night and according to the City of Denver, it will feature patriotic and pop favorites from MIX, CU Denver's award-winning a capella group; the Hazel Miller Band and the Denver Municipal Band.  Now you know!
