New Imerman Angels Video - Your Participation Makes a Difference! While fighting cancer at 26 years old, Jonny Imerman (pictured) had loving support from family and friends, but never met anyone his age who was a cancer survivor. He wanted to talk to someone just like him, someone who truly understood and could empathize – someone who had already beaten the same type of cancer.  This was the beginning of Jonny’s vision. Imerman Angels was founded in 2003 to introduce each cancer fighter to a cancer survivor (and caregiver to a caregiver) who is the same age, same gender, and someone who has already beaten that particular type of cancer.  Click  HERE to check out this short video (this video is also great to forward to potential donors so they can hear about the cause you are running for).
Get Your Team Imerman Angels Team Gear! If you were unable to make it to the Kick off last month, we have your Team Imerman Angels singlet and training shirt.  Feel free to stop by (or have a friend drop by) the Imerman Angels office at 205 W. Randolph in downtown Chicago (that saves us some postage).  If you are unable to pick it up at the office, we will be handing them out at a team event in late July.  Let us know if you would rather have us mail the singlet to you (email Dave at dlouthan@imermanangels.org).
Team Imerman Angels Women Take Over the Magnificent Mile:  Since the 1980's, only Mickey Mouse and Oprah have been able to close down the Mag Mile.  That is, until now.  On Sunday, August 31, Team Imerman Angels will be a participating charity at The Magnificent Mile® Chicago Women’s half marathon and 5k.

If you would like to be a part of this epic event, click HERE for more information (all Team IA - Chicago Marathoners should contact Dave at dlouthan@imermanangels.org if they want to register for this event).  All Team IA - Chicago Marathon women will receive a free entry (as well as pre-race/post-race on-site hospitality with private gear check, massage and refreshments) by committing to raise an additional $200 to their Chicago Marathon fundraising minimum.  Each event participant receives a technical top ($40 retail) with hidden back zip pocket (fabric is rated UPF 50).  Recruit your friends!
Meet The Team:  Team Imerman Angels will be hosting a free, after work run with Newton Shoes and Fleet Feet Sports in late July.  We're working out the concept (something a bit more fun than just a run) and the exact date.  You'll receive a separate invite for this event - stay tuned!
Keep Current on All Chicago Marathon Information:  The Bank of America Chicago Marathon offers two great resources to keep you up to speed on Marathon news.  Sign Up for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Mile by Mile E-News (click HERE).  For debut marathoners, sign up for the Nike Debut Marathon Newsletter (click HERE).
Winners Announced of the Fourteen Day Fundraising Incentive for June: Congrats to Beth Johnson and Rebecca Rosenberg, the winners of the June fundraising incentive.  Both Beth and Rebecca each receive two 1-hour massages with Dr. Jeremy Leimback.  Nice work to everyone on the fundraising, Team Imerman Angels is over 33% of the way to our team goal of $150,000 and has eclipsed the $50,000 mark which creates over 150 one-on-one cancer connections.  That's a lot of connections that we are creating for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.  You guys are crushing this!
Meet Team IA Featured Athlete Aaron Wahls:
You've supported Imerman Angels for a long time - how many years have you been on Team IA?  "My first time running for Team IA was 2007."
What is your favorite Chicago Marathon memory?  "I couldn't believe the buzz and energy on the course in my first marathon in 2002 - and it gets better each year."
What is your favorite post long run food or restaurant? "Does beer count as food?"
What is your favorite part of the course?  "Whatever point my wife and son are watching the race from."
Fundraising tip?  "Focus on Imerman Angel's mission. It's hard to find someone that won't come away impressed with the organization and wanting to help after a discussion about IA."
How do you stay fit - tell us about your gym: "River North CrossFit (www.rivernorthcrossfit.com) focuses on a constantly varied fitness program. While running and "conditioning" are key components, so is weightlifting (explosive movement) and gymnastics (simply put, body weight movements). Stop in and tell them you are from IA (free intro sessions for all people affiliated with IA)."
And those pesky (but important) reminders:
(1) Last Chance to Get Registered for Marathon Training with Chicago Endurance Sports - it's free to all Team IA.  Click HERE to register and use this coupon code (
IACES2014) for free training.  Please do not forward the code (or this e-news) to anyone else as we will be charged for each registration.  Deadline is Monday, June 30 at 12 PM (Noon).
(2) Hotels for Marathon Weekend:  Don't delay as these will fill quickly.  Click HERE for more information.
(3) Start Corrals: All participants are assigned a Start Corral for the Chicago Marathon based on their estimated time they indicated when registering.  You can qualify for a "faster" Start Corral based on a qualifying time submitted to the Marathon Information.  Click HERE for more information.
