See You at Oshkosh!
We're displaying the RV-12 S-LSA in two locations at Oshkosh (July 28 to August 3). One aircraft will be at the Van's Aircraft booth, located in the homebuilt area. The other will be part of a special exhibit celebrating 10 years of the LSA rule, located at "show center" on Celebration Way, across from the EAA Welcome Center. Both exhibits will be staffed by our experts all week long.

Thankyou!!!
RV-12 Expo was a huge success with a superb turnout of almost 200 attendees making it to the weekend of activities at Sunriver. We want to thank all the owners, builders, vendors, exhibitors, speakers, staff members and volunteers that worked together to create such a fantastic event!
Owner Q&A Video
We caught up with S-LSA owner Peter Chmelir of Camarillo, CA at the RV-12 Expo and created a 3-minute video in which he shares his experiences since taking delivery of the airplane in August 2013.  A 30 year Navy veteran, Peter even finds a way to compare flying his RV-12 to the F-14 Tomcat! Watch the video.
What's New With the RV-12?
Rian Johnson, Chief Engineer at Van’s Aircraft, spoke at the RV-12 Expo about future developments with the aircraft. The biggest piece of news was that much development work has been done on dual screen installations and this option is likely to be available soon. The airplane also has a new prop hub and canopy latch switch. Adjustable rudder pedals are in the pipeline but there are no plans to install the IS model of the Rotax 912 engine. Rian received a loud round of applause in discussing the company’s commitment to continue the RV-12 being “Made in the USA”.
Ed Hicks Photoshoot
UK-based Ed Hicks crossed the Atlantic to attend the RV-12 Expo and once again showed why he has a fast-growing reputation as one of the best air-to-air photographers around.  Clicking on any of these photos will take you to a full gallery of shots from an evening flight over the Oregon countryside.
POH Update
The RV-12 Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH) contains a new recommended takeoff technique. Pilots should begin the takeoff roll with full aft stick until the nose lifts off the ground, then hold the nose in that position until the aircraft takes off. Testing has shown this method reduces takeoff distance, provides more rudder authority, and helps keep the pilot's eyes outside the cockpit.
Aviation Consumer review
Aviation Consumer magazine takes pride in providing rigorous, unbiased reviews of aviation products, so were very pleased to be nominated BEST NEW LSA in their product of the year review. The magazine's staff flew the RV-12 at Sebring and published a detailed report that concluded: "Based on price, performance, fit, finish and Van’s long-standing reputation for excellent product support, we think the RV-12 represents one of the better deals in the current LSA market."  Read the whole review (paid subscription required).
Long Time Friends
"I was called down from my engineering dept. desk to meet a couple who were at Van’s to take delivery of their new SLSA RV-12." writes Dick VanGrunsven. This turned into an opportunity for Dick to renew a fifty-year friendship with Dave and Pat Forbes. Read More.
