Today we once again celebrated Matariki with an awesome hāngi at our Mt Albert site. The mihi above acknowledges all our people spread out across the country and people no longer with us. It picks up on metaphoric words from our ancestors recognising that we are all in one canoe together.

At Plant & Food Research we are committed to working together with iwi to grow and develop Māori business in line with the sustainable, social, environmental and economic aspirations of Māori. Success for our Seafood Team

Plant & Food Research’s Alistair Jerrett and the team involved in the Precision Seafood Harvesting (PSH) programme had several reasons to celebrate at the second annual KiwiNet Research Commercialisation Awards.

Mr Jerrett’s 30-year career as an innovator and entrepreneur within the New Zealand seafood industry saw him collect the coveted Researcher Entrepreneur Award, before he and his team also collected the People’s Choice Award and were runners up in the BNZ Supreme Award category. READ MORE
 

Food data to keep NZ healthy

Health and nutrition professionals, policymakers and people with an interest in food can now access updated nutritional analyses of foods common to the New Zealand diet.

The latest edition of the New Zealand Food Composition Database (NZFCD) publication– holds information on 2,600 foods, including new or updated data for 81 foods that have become increasingly common in the New Zealand diet. READ MORE
