Latest News - June 2014
We are delighted to announce that our new premises is 3 Wote Street, Basingstoke. We are in the process of getting this property altered and working around the clock to get it ready for Pink Place sessions as soon as possible. We are still in need of an electrician to volunteer their time for half a day, and more people to paint, clean and prepare the new Pink Place would be appreciated. Please get in touch if you can help.
We hope to welcome guests into the new site in the next month. Our new premises will mean we can open more often and in time expand our services and open to men, women and children with any cancer.

BVS Celebration of Volunteering Awards 2014
At the BVS Celebration of Volunteering Awards for 2014, our very own Sue Williams collected her award from The Mayor of Basingstoke. When the idea of The Pink Place was first conceived in 2010 Sue was one of the first people to come forward and volunteer her services. Since then Sue's financial background and skills have proved invaluable in looking after the Pink Place accounts. Most of Sue's activities for the charity are unseen by the public, but she provides a crucial role in the organisation. Congratulations Sue, a thoroughly well-deserved Award!

Spring Ball raises over £5000 !
Over 100 people flocked to The Holiday Inn, Basingstoke for our Spring Ball in May. The evening which included live music from Luke Upton and the John Glasscock Jazz Band and also a balloon auction and charity auction raised £5471.82. Christine Rowley from Basingstoke Hospital hosted the evening and Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke were in attendance. Our thanks go to all those mentioned above and also NIcci-G Florists and Michelle and the team from Holiday Inn.
We are so grateful for the generosity of so many companies and individuals who donated lots for our auctions. These included a unique watermark of Abraham Lincoln by De La Rue, and a weeks holiday in a luxury Florida Villa by Bill Phillips and Roger Self. It was a wonderful evening, thank you to all who took part.
The evening ended with the DJ Dan Bridle playing the Pink Place Anthem - It's All About You...

BCOT First Year Students Charity Dinner
Over 60 diners attended a charity dinner run by First year catering students at BCOT and had a spectacularly good meal. The students held the event in aid of The Pink Place. Well done to Jade Smith, the 17 year old chef, and her supporting team in the kitchen and front of house staff who all worked so hard to make the evening such a success.

The Big Lunch hosted by The Halifax
In June, over 30 supporters of The Pink Place enjoyed a free lunch provided by The Halifax at its Big Lunch. Thank you to Catherine Duffin, Claire and the team from The Halifax who organised everything and also held a raffle which raised £105 for The Pink Place. It was a lovely event which allowed us to meet up with guests, current and past, and volunteers in a relaxed setting with a lovely buffet. An unexpected bonus was two young men from the Halifax who volunteered two hours of their time for auction. Kathy, our community events organiser, beat off all competition to win the guys for a spot of gardening!

Kathy Williams
Kathy first started volunteering for The Pink Place as a therapist in 2010 and was instrumental in recruiting and organising teams of therapists, most of whom still volunteer regularly. Medical problems forced her to give up her beloved therapy work, but she channeled her boundless energy, attention to detail and commitment to the charity into fundraising. Using her previous experience of fundraising for The Ark, Kathy became The Pink Place's Community Events Organiser.
She has organised pamper evenings, cake sales, charity shop, summer picnics, charity balls and helped raise thousands of pounds for The Pink Place. Kathy always goes way beyond the call of duty and is truly an inspiration and an encouragement to the whole team. Kathy's reason for volunteering for The Pink Place is being able to see the difference The Pink Place makes to people going through the most difficult time of their lives.
