Casa Vieja Lodge is a sponsor of The Billfish Foundation and we encourage our anglers to tag their billfish on their adventure in our Pacific waters. TBF reported yet another recapture our beautiful Sailfish.

This sailfish was tagged by TBF award winner, Captain Chris Sheeder back in mid-February of 2014 by the crew of the Rum Line and caught by angler Jake Darling. At the time it was released the crew estimated it weighed around 75 lbs. After 95 days at large this same sailfish was recaptured off of Puerto Angel, Mexico roughly 400 miles northwest of where it was tagged off of Puerto San Jose, Guatemala. That’s an average straight-line distance of more than 4 miles a day! When it was recaptured by Juan Gonzalez the fish’s actual weight was close to 60 lbs. TBF says, "Congratulations to Capt. Sheeder and everyone at Casa Vieja Lodge on this recapture!"
