Can Innovation Boost US Healthcare Out of Last Place?

The U.S. might be on the upswing in the World Cup arena, but not so much when it comes to the global health game. In a study released Monday by The Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. came in dead last on a list comparing the health systems of 11 industrialized countries. And it’s the fifth time in a decade that the U.S. has ranked so poorly. So, how do we reverse our losing streak? We think digital health innovation led by an army of entrepreneurs has a huge role to play. The first half of 2014 has already witnessed major advancements in the industry, from data releases to increased venture deals. And we still have yet to see what the rest of the year (including the Apple-Google-Samsung health battle!) will bring.

A Fresh Perspective on Health Spending

Each year, $2.7 trillion is spent on medical care in the U.S., but where does it all go? On June 25 & 26, the SOCAP Health conference in New York will convene stakeholders from across the industry to explore new opportunities for impact and entrepreneurship.
