News from our Strategic Partners |
Partnership News Update
The LGB&T Partnership now targets its work around workstreams, with a focus on specific pieces of work we think will have real benefit for LGB&T communities and throughout the year we will bring you updates on each of these. Each workstream is identifying within its work programme how it will engage with stakeholders, and as part of this process we will be asking you, our stakeholders, to identify any of the workstreams that you would like to participate in.
The first stage in this will be asking you to fill in a quick survey that identifies any areas that you would be interested in participating in. You can identify as many areas as you want to engage with. To enable this to work we need to collate this information from you as stakeholders so we can identify your interests in relation to our workstreams. Once collated, we will give this information to each of the workstream leads who will then get in touch with those indicating an interest in that area. It is likely that this could involve a focus group, an online discussion forum, a webinar, collection of case studies etc.
We really appreciate stakeholders taking the time to fill in the forthcoming survey and we hope it will lead to you getting more out of being involved in the National LGB&T Partnership. We would really like to incorporate your knowledge and experience to better the lives of LGB&T communities so please look out for a separate email in the next couple of weeks asking for your input into this survey. You can also get more information and detail on each of the workstreams in last month’s bulletin at http://eepurl.com/VO239

Sexually transmitted infection risk in England is greatest in gay men and young adults
Number of STI cases diagnosed in 2013 remain close to 2012 figures.
There were 446,253 sexually transmitted infections (STIs) diagnosed in England in 2013, according to new Public Health England (PHE) data out today: close to the number diagnosed in 2012 (448,775 cases).
Gay men were disproportionately affected, accounting for 81% of syphilis (2,393) and 63% of gonorrhoea (13,570) cases in male GUM clinic attendees. Gonorrhoea diagnoses rose 26% in this group, nearly double the national rate, which is of particular concern as harder to treat gonorrhoea strains emerge.
