Glasgow 16th June
Last week we launched 'A House Called Askival' in the elegant bar of the Cup Tea Lounge on Renfield St. It was a warm night, the place was brimming with bright souls and bon-homie and I loved seeing so many folk there. Amazingly, we discovered that the beautiful building with it's red brickwork, arches and decorative tiles was once the Bank of India. Perfect. There was a nail-biting quiz, a couple readings from the book, and questions from Adrian Searle, Director of Freight Books, and from the floor. Best of all, a bunch of us went out for dinner afterwards to Opium, a gorgeous 'Asian fusion' place just up the road. A fantastic start to a week of celebrations! Inverness 17th June
This launch was hosted by the brilliant folks of the Highland Lit Salon in their usual venue at the Glen Mhor Hotel, down by the river. Again, a wonderful bunch of friends and kind supporters turned out and gave themselves with vigour to the quiz and questions. The Salon is not nearly as high-brow as it sounds, but rather a gathering of people interested in writing, reading and sharing the joys of literature. They have a fantastic programme of guest speakers - authors, publishers, agents, etc - and all are welcome. Many thanks to the team there for inviting me to be their first book launch.

Aviemore 19th June
And to finish, the local launch was hosted by Highlife Highland at the Aviemore Library. There was a fantastic home crowd, fierce competition in the quiz and bubbly to celebrate. The highlight for me was having proud husband and sons in the audience. Thanks go to them and the other lovely folks who helped: Charlotte Macarthur, Pam Topping and Andrea Newbery.
