Our family is growing! This month we accepted four new little ones into Roots & Wings! Right now we would like to introduce you to the first two newbies:
Yulissa is a year and a half and is a ball of fun. At first she was very quiet and reserved, but she has slowly come out of her shell. We have known Yulissa since she was just a few months old. Her home life is chaotic and lacks the stability that all children need. For the most part, Yulissa was raised by eight-year-old Miguelito, the grandson of her mom's partner. Miguelito, whom she calls "dad," would stay home from school to care for her. As an orphan himself, this has formed a strong bond between the two.
Juliedt is a year and four months and is another of our new additions. Due to her parents' long working hours, Juliedt was being left in the care of any individual willing to watch her, regardless of their suitability. This included young girls, a teenage uncle and different neighbors. Juliedt has been left mostly to her own devices to raise herself. As a result, she is fiercely independent and a great problem solver.
Yulissa's high-pitched singing and Juliedt's deep, raspy shouts have become part of the wonderful sounds that fill our walls.

Noise, interruptions, meetings and dust. This month, Roots & Wings broke ground on Phase Two of construction and these things have become part of our daily life. It is all terribly exciting.
We are saddened when we have to tell parents that right now we are not accepting any more children because we are at capacity. But it gives us great joy to point towards the construction and tell them that we are actively working towards making more room.
Please pray for Roots & Wings and our kids as together we adapt to the commotion that comes with having construction right outside our door. Also pray for a smooth and efficient construction process and for the construction crew as they work all day under the hot sun.
