Good Morning <<First Name>>,

In advocacy this week...

Engage! Take our four question survey
How do you want to be engaged by the City of St. John’s?
During April the St. John's Board of Trade was notified that they had been selected to participate in the Engage! St. John's Task Force. The task force was comprised of citizens-at-large as well as organizational stakeholders. Its mandate was to review work that has already been done in other jurisdictions; develop best practices, and to work with City officials on policy development and guiding principles for public engagement for the City of St. John's.
We want to hear from our members on how you want to be engaged by the City. Please take our short four question survey.

Board opposes changes to Temporary foreign worker program

In response to the federal governments recent changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the Board of Trade issued a news release on Tuesday, outlining how increased fees and restrictions will make the program inaccessible for many small businesses in this province.
Our members are already having difficulty recruiting and retaining employees. In our 2014 Economic Outlook and Survey 67 per cent of respondents indicated that they were concerned about not finding qualified workers.
The sweeping changes announced late last week will do little to fill the labour gaps that exist in this province.
