We did it again!!! Mayer teachers and staff donated back-to-school supplies for kids in Dominican Republic! Got there today to sort out materials and I'm surprised by a cart full of more donations from DePaul university! I'm so grateful for all the students that wrote letters to kids in DR, Mayer families and colleagues that contributed to the supplies drive. Special thanks to Ms. Ana Solis, Ms. Shannon Mahoney and our little helper Leilani Rodriguez for coming back to school to help sort all materials! 240 back-to-school kits and an additional box full of more supplies.

Your Student's School Supplies Delivered Directly to School

Once again, we are working with OfficeZilla to enable you to buy your school supplies online and have them delivered directly to the school. OfficeZilla is a give-back partner, so not only do you save yourself some hassle, you will also be giving back to the school. More information to follow in the next few weeks.

Mayer Picnic Dinners on the Beach

Get to know new Mayer families and stay in touch with those you already know by joining some informal picnic dinners on the beach. Weather permitting, we will meet at Montrose Beach at 6 p.m. on:

- Tuesday July 22

- Thursday August 21

We will meet on top of the grassy hill overlooking the beach. There is a large parking lot with cheap parking right by the beach and usually at night there are plenty of open spots. There is also some street parking.

If you are a new Mayer family – we hope you can join us.

New this year - the Kids' Corner is being moved to Belden (between Sheffield and Kenmore) which ties it closer to the main fest. Also, there will be a second stage just north of Kenmore on Sheffield as well as more vendors selling items; clothing, jewelry, etc.

Pledge Drive Update

We now have pledges of $368,000 with over $307,000 actually received. This represents 58% of students.

LSC Meeting

Please join us at the Local School Council (LSC) meeting on Tuesday, July 7 at 6 pm in the school library. The LSC meets to discuss topics that are relevant to the long-term planning and education of our children. Any school related issues and concerns can be brought to the LSC. Friday, August 29 – Meet the Teacher – New EC students can meet inside at 11:30am. Everyone else meets outside at noon.
Monday, September 1 – No School – Labor Day
Tuesday, September 2 – First day of school for kindergarten through 8^th graders
Thursday, September 4 – First day of school for 4 year olds
Monday, September 8 – First day of school for 3 year olds

Trebes Park and Webster Street Tree Cutting

Thank you Alderman Scott Waguespack!

A parent sent a request to Alderman Scott Waguespack's office to handle the very badly needed and necessary tree trimming on Webster and Clifton. While the Department of Forestry for the City of Chicago is behind two years, the Alderman's office made sure it was handled so parents taking kids to school no longer had to bend over due to low hanging branches. Thank you!
