House prices up but market cooling
  • House prices are up on average 0.4% in the past month and up on average 8.6% in the past year.
  • The housing market looks to be cooling with demand static and housing transactions and mortgage approvals down in the past month.
  • There's a sense that buyers are becoming more cautious, while tougher affordability and stress tests brought in by the Mortgage Market Review are impacting mortgage approvals.
