It may come as a surprise that the generation known for its laziness, self-obsession and unwillingness to pay dues is actually quite social-minded. According a recent survey:
64% of Millennials want to feel like their job makes a positive impact on the world.
88% prefer collaboration over competition.
79% want a boss to be more of a mentor than an authority figure.
By 2020, Millennials will fill almost half the workforce. Leaders looking to the future of their company are going to want to take into account the different value set of their new workers, who are seeking work-life integration, not work-life balance.
They'll create corporate cultures that maximize the ability of their employees to innovate and collaborate with team members, who all feel like they're part of something larger, something for the overall social good.
Turns out, Millennials are asking the same questions we all are...maybe just a little bit earlier on: did I live? Did I love?
